Single Session Clinic

Patients of the ANFHT can access a single session with a Registered Social Worker at no cost. During this appointment, our Social Worker will support you with developing a plan to address one concern you currently have. This may include emotional support, feedback, ideas on how to make positive changes in your life, information on community programs, and other resources.

Our Single Session Clinic takes place from 12:30pm to 3:30pm on the first Tuesday of the month. Please take a look at our Events Calendar on the website to view exact dates. Sessions are available in-person, by phone, or through secure video platform.

To register, please leave a message with your name and number at 905-898-2240 ext. 302 on the morning of the first Tuesday of the month, and a team member will return your call to provide you with a same-day timeslot. Please keep in mind that appointments are on a first come first serve basis.

To make the most of your session, it can be helpful to think about what you’d like to talk about or achieve in your session before your appointment.

Some common issues that are discussed in a one-time session include (but are not limited to):

  • Adjusting to major life changes
    • Changes in relationships
    • Illness or new diagnosis
    • Loss of a loved one
  • Dealing with feelings of sadness or anxiousness
  • Social isolation
  • Facing challenges or conflict in your relationship(s)

After Hours Care

If I am sick after work hours do I have to go to the hospital?

If you think it's an emergency, you should go to the nearest hospital. However, you should be aware that there are several alternatives for you and your family after hours.

For example, our Family Health Team offers extended hours Monday through Thursday and Saturday. We would advise you to call us prior to visiting a clinic.

Telehealth Ontario also provides free access to a registered nurse 24/7 at 1-866-797-0000. A nurse can provide both health advice on a specific concern or general health information. They do not diagnose and do not replace your physician.
